コーランの教えによれば、イスラムのために殉教した戦士はみな天国に行って、そこで
「黒い瞳の７２人の処女たち」と「交わる」ことになっているという。だから爆弾戦士たちは、
決行の前には必ず下着を替えて、局部を念入りに聖なる白布で保護して、身を清めてから
死地に赴くことが判明している。

ところで、コーランにはときどき意味不明な記述が散見される。たとえばマリアの処女懐妊のくだり
（１９章、２４節）のくだりでは、生まれたばかりのイエス・キリストはマリアを慰めるが、通常の
コーラン正本では

「悲しむことなかれ。神は汝の足を小川の流れに入れたまう」

と書かれており、何のことだかよく解らない。

そこで「コーランのアラビア語はシリア方言ではないか」と言い始めたのがアラビア語方言学の
権威のクリストフ・ルクセンブルク。前の一節も、シリア方言で解釈すると

「悲しむことなかれ。神は汝の出産を正当なものと認め給う」

となり、意味がよく通る。

では、イスラムの殉教者は「黒い瞳の７２人の処女たち」と「交わる」という一節はシリア方言で
解釈するとどうなるのか。なんと、「目が大きい処女達」とは「クリスタルのような白い果物」という
意味になってしまうのだ。

マホメットは「殉教すれば白いブドウがいっぱい食えるぞ！」と言っただけなのに、その教えを勝手に
誤解してエッチな期待を持ち、チンポコを念入りに保護して爆死した阿呆なテロリストたちは全くもって
ご苦労さんとしか言いようがない。しかし、いちばん気の毒なのは、こういう馬鹿げた誤解の巻添えで
命を落とす羽目になった犠牲者たちである。
